We got up bright and early to a frost-laden landscape and I thought to myself, “What’s a Koi Acres’ event if we didn’t have unusual weather?” This is one of those landmark events for me every year and I can’t wait to see what comes out of the mud pond today!
What I really love about this harvest is the anticipation of seeing the development of Koi over the season. It’s the “surprise” factor – like opening up presents at Christmas! Today we are harvesting pond 6 and 7, which have the Koi that went in as jumbo tosai in the spring. Today they come up as nisai, and I feel that the change from tosai to nisai is probably one of the most drastic changes for Koi in it’s lifetime. I am naturally excited to see how each Koi came up, but there are a few that Devin and I are excited to see again.
Excited to see you all happy Koi Acres’ hobbyists later! 🙂
